Marion William Giertz, 86, of Bellflower, Illinois, passed away at 11:30 P.M. Wednesday, December 11, 2019, in Urbana, Illinois. His funeral will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, December 14, 2019, at Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, Farmer City, Illinois, with Pastor Louella Pence and Kevin Lawrence officiating. Burial will follow in Bellflower Township Cemetery, Bellflower, Illinois, with military rites accorded. Visitation will be from 12:00 P. M. – 2:00 P.M. Saturday, December 14, 2019, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Bellflower Christian Church. Marion was born May 18, 1933, at Bellflower, Illinois, a son of Kermit and Marie Andris Giertz. He married Erma Bidner on November 30, 1952, in Bellflower, Illinois. He is survived by his wife, Erma Giertz of Bellflower, Illinois; two sons, Greg (Stephanie) Giertz of New Windsor, Illinois, and Steve (Michelle) Giertz of Biggsville, Illinois; four grandsons, Ryan, Jacob, Andrew, and Lucas Giertz. Marion was preceded in death by his parents. Marion was an Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was a retired livestock and grain farmer. Marion was a member of the Bellflower Christian Church, and the Bellflower American Legion Post 202.
