Mrs. Wilma Lee (Wymer) Thornton of Brookland, Arkansas, departed this life on Wednesday, December 11, 2019, at the age of 67. She was born April 2, 1952 at Newport, the daughter of Chester F. and Veriece Odean (Moore) Wymer. Mrs. Thornton was a graduate of Grubbs High School. She was a homemaker, who enjoyed visiting with her friends and family. Mrs. Thornton loved taking care of her grandchildren, and playing with her great-grandchildren. This loving Christian woman and friend of God was a member of the Pennington Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Chestene Henderson. Mrs. Thornton is survived by her husband of 49 years, Steve Franklin Thornton of the home; one daughter, Stephanie Thornton Glenn and husband Donald, Jr., of Brookland; two brothers, Troy Wymer and wife, Linda, of Jacksonville, Arkansas, and Chester Ray Wymer and wife, Ellen, of Searcy, Arkansas; one sister, Charlene Altom and husband, Buddy, of Campbell Station; her brother-in-law, Walker Henderson of Weiner, Arkansas; two grandchildren, Kendra Glenn of Brookland, and Gunner Glenn of Brookland; one great-grandchild, Azure Solomon; her best friend, Linda Atkinson; many nieces, nephews, and friends. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Balch-Johnston Cemetery, with her husband, Mr. Steve Thornton and Mr. Donnie Combs officiating. Those honored to serve as pallbearers are her nephews, David Wymer, Rickey Henderson, Michael Thornton, Colton Thornton, Brent Thornton, and Trey Thornton. Honorary pallbearers are Wayne Kirker, Scott Joe Turner, Ron Turner, Bryson Altom, Tim Turner, Jonathan Gates, Clay London, Tommy Dunning, Clark Secrease, Jerry Stallings, and Wayne Taylor.
