Carol Lynn Barnes, 58 Carol Lynn Barnes, 58 of Ashland passed away, Wednesday morning, December 11, 2019 in the Kingston of Ashland. She was born on October 31, 1961 in Ashland, the daughter of Charles W. Barnes and the late Janice E. (nee Mumper) Barnes. Carol graduated from Dale Roy School in 1982. She was employed at the Dale Roy Sheltered Workshop for many years, retiring in 2016. Carol was a member of First United Methodist Church. Carol competed in the International Special Olympics for bowling in 1987; where she has won many gold medals over the years. She was a lover of music and plays having traveled to Toronto, Canada to see Phantom of the Opera. Carol always enjoyed helping her family around the house. She is survived by her father, Charles (Melody) Barnes of Ashland; two sisters, Kimberly Bockoven of Waco, Texas and Karen (David) Baker of Bingham Farms, Michigan; and two nephews, Benjamin (Jacqueline) Bockoven and Nick (Lauren) Bockoven. In addition to her mother Jan, Carol was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Dr. Earl O. and Eva (nee Nyhart) Mumper; her paternal grandparents, Leland and Martha (nee Strobel) Barnes; and a brother-in-law, Bill Bockoven. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 16, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. in the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home with Reverend Tom Snyder officiating. Following the service, a meal and time of fellowship will be in the Legacy Room of the funeral home. Interment will be in the Wesley Chapel Cemetery near Danville, Ohio. Friends may call Sunday, December 15, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dale Roy School, 1256 Center Street, Ashland, Ohio 44805 or to Pathways Hospice, 1171 East Main Street, Ashland, Ohio 44805.
