Bernice Prater

Bernice Prater, Okmulgee resident, passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2019 in Okmulgee at the age of 87. She was born on Wednesday, November 2, 1932 to Severe and Mary (Villar) Humphrey in Pierce, OK. She taught typing and bookkeeping for 29 years at Okmulgee, Checotah and Wainwright Public Schools. In November 1981 she married Roy Prater in Hitchita, OK. Bernice loved fishing, quilting and “Garage Saling.” Her family was everything to her and being with them always brought her joy. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her. Bernice was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Roy Humphrey; her son, Randy Waller and her first husband James Waller of 25 years. She is lovingly survived by her husband, Roy Prater; her daughters, Terri Waller of Loveland, CO and Laurie Deerinwater of Tulsa, OK; her granddaughters, Krystal Stanford of Loveland, CO, Brittany Cobb of Sapulpa, OK and Jordan Deerinwater of Okmulgee, OK; and her step-daughter, Susan Combs of Oklahoma City, OK. Bernice is also survived by her great grandchildren, Ryan Deerinwater and Abigail Cobb; her step grandchildren, Tina Johnson and her husband Barry, Angelia, Dalton, Lauren and Brian Pruitt, Brandon and Alicia Foreman; her brother, Joe Ed Humphrey and his wife Robbie of Morris, OK as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other extended family and a lifetime of friends.
