Eva Mae Kemerling Hix, 97, of Creal Springs, IL, formerly of Kewanee, died Monday, December 9, 2019 at her home. Eva was born February 13, 1922 in Lafayette, IL, the daughter of George N. and Eva Mae (Harmon) VanDike. Eva married Robert Lee Kemerling on March 8, 1941 in Davenport, he preceded her in death on April 23, 1998. She later married Gerald Hix on August 26, 1999, he preceded her in death on May 24, 2007. She also had a special friend, Donald Hoyt, he preceded her in death also. Eva is survived by two children, Raymond (Jayne) Kemerling, Creal Springs, Pat (Ronald) VanWassenhove, Kewanee; four grandchildren, Tom, Todd, Renee, Craig; ten great grandchildren; one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; three brothers, Arthur, Forest, and Harold “Bud” VanDike; one sister, Betty Talbot; and special friend, Donald Hoyt. Eva was a homemaker. She was a member of the Flemish American Club. She enjoyed gardening, dancing and her dogs, Lassie and Tiny. She especially loved spending time with her family and friends. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am, Friday, December 13, 2019 at Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home. Father Johndamaseni Zilimu will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the time of the service on Friday, December 13, 2019 at the funeral home.
