Patricia Stata Helfrich Obituary

Alburgh – Patricia Stata Helfrich a lifelong resident of Alburgh, passed away Sunday, December 8, 2019, at the Northwestern Medical Center after a long and courageous battle, surrounded by her family. We always knew she was strong and brave, she proved us right over the last two years, especially the last week. Born at home in Alburgh on July 15, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Cyrus and June (Naylor) Stata. Patty was 70 years old. Patty graduated from St. Mary’s School in Champlain, New York and attended the University of Vermont. Her passion was her family, especially her boys! She had 5 grandsons who she called “Nannie’s Best Boys.” With them she shared her love of the lake, gardening, animals, pie baking, bird watching, and trips down tickle hill. She was an avid reader, enjoyed knitting, loved admiring the moon through her bedroom window, and coming home to her home by the lake. One of her greatest enjoyments was family gatherings where she never disappointed with her variety of pies. She had an amazing knack for caring for animals, wild or domestic. Patty is survived by her; daughter, Tara Couture and husband, Darcy, of Alburgh and their children, Kane, Landon and Mac; son, Cush Helfrich and wife, Tracy, of Colchester, and their children, Reid and Jake; former husband and friend Cush Helfrich; her brother, Stephen Stata and wife, Carol, of Isle Motte; sisters, Molly Comeau and husband, Joseph, of Alburgh and Susan Bacon and husband, Charles, of Huntington; good friend Dale Place, loyal companions Ren and Ty, care provider Beth Parizo as well as countless nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and friends. In addition to her parents, Patty was pre-deceased by her brother, Dick Stata. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a gathering for Patty, on Friday, December 13, 2019, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street, St. Albans. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Patty’s name to C.I.D.E.R. P.O. Box 13, South Hero, Vermont 05486. They brought her to many appointments over the last 2 years as well as helping to make her house handicap accessible.
