Carla Milburn Obituary

Carla Joanne Milburn, completed her walk here on earth December 8, 2019 in her home on the plains near Arriba Colorado. Hers’ was not a surrender to a valiant battle with cancer, but an affirmation her vessel was empty and she would "get up again" not here, but with her Savior. Surrounded by her loving family she began her new Eternal Life. Carla was 61 beautiful years young. Born October 16, 1958 in Denver CO, to Carl and Dolores (Ehmann) Kroh. The First born of four girls. Carla grew up in Deer Trail, CO. knowing very well, and loving many extended family members. She attended Deer Trail Public Schools, and First Baptist Church, where she accepted Jesus as her Savior. Early childhood careers included delivering the Denver Post, mowing lawns, babysitting, and lifeguard. Carla and Bennie Griffin were married November 17, 1973 and to this union were born four children. Carla and Bryan Milburn were married January 2, 1988, and to this union was born one son. They owned and operated small businesses in Colorado and she embraced the next move & adventure because it meant "trying something new." They were spectators and fans of their children's and grandchildren's activities, performances, and promotions. Carla loved visiting her family and loved her family get-togethers. She earned her GED and Cosmetology license at the same time and wherever she "landed" she set up shop to meet new friends and clients and hear new stories of someone else's' "normal". Carla and Bryan settled on the Ranch and invited numerous critters to share their beautiful home and land. Carla was a great cook and loved her plants and collections of "family heirlooms" "treasures from her walks”, and the "new" she found shopping. Excited about the latest fashion in hair, clothing, shoes, bags and bling, Carla was meticulous to present herself. She graduated from the Dept. of Corrections Academy in Canyon City Colorado to begin her career at the Limon Correctional Facility in 1998; Sergeant Milburn was a Real Co Worker, Friend, Mentor, Sarge, Disciplinarian, Role model, and policy subject matter Expert which earned her the position of Gate keeper.
