Bobby's story began in 1952 when he was born on Groundhog Day to Robert and Grace (Wilson) Stutz. The family of three grew to five with the births of his sisters Susan (1954) and Lilla (1958). Caldwell was the primary home for the Stutz family, and Bobby already knew his way around by age five. He had many adventures over the years with his best friend and backyard neighbor, Tony Alcaro. The two boys grew up as brothers, and their adventures and escapades set the stage for great stories which entertained their own growing families over the years to come. The Stutz family spent winters driving back and forth from Caldwell to Vermont to ski. Little did his parents know, it was the start of a legacy Bobby would continue with his own family. Bobby was an accomplished athlete, playing baseball and ski racing from high school into college, winning championships until an injury forced him into early racing retirement. He loved to work on muscle cars mechanically and artistically, and taught himself to airbrush and pinstripe. Bobby made his living as an electrician with Local 164 (Paramus) formerly Local 52 based in Newark. In 1978 he married his amazing wife Kathleen (Remus). The couple bought a fixer-upper in Cedar Grove where they happily raised their three children, Cienne, Robby and Erin. Bobby always enjoyed sharing his interests and passions with his friends and family. He continued his parents' tradition of making frequent winter ski trips to Vermont with his young family over the years to meet up and ski with his sisters and their families, and even his parents when they weren't in Florida. Bobby took his steadfast friend Bob Kellenberger skiing before both men had families, and he was hooked. "BK" and his young family joined Bobby and his crew in Vermont for many trips over the years, sharing in some great experiences together. The expanded Stutz family and Kellenberger family made quite a crowd on the slopes, at lunchtime, and wherever aprés ski took them. The ski trips to Jay Peak have become a way of life for the family, a second home, and Bobby's children continue to make the trips with their own children now, too. Bobby embodied the saying "work hard, play hard." His hobbies continued to be working on cars, upkeeping his home, skiing with family and golfing with friends. One of his favorite golf memories was his trip to Scotland with his buddy and roommate Eddie Fitzpatrick. The courses they played and the company they kept on the trip made for great stories and lasting bonds. Bobby always put full effort into everything he did, whether work or play. Even with his physical challenges over the past twelve years, he kept himself moving, social, and positive. His determination was especially evident when his youngest child, Erin, got married, and everyone watched him walk her down the aisle himself. His spirit, dedication, and legacy live on with his beloved wife of 41 years, Kathleen Stutz (nee Remus); devoted children, Cienne Keegan, and her husband, Timothy, Robert William Stutz, and his wife, Erin (Ilovichny), and Erin Castro, and her husband, Matthew; cherished grandchildren, Braedan, Evangelia, Tanner, Madeline, and Everett; dear siblings, Susan Ward, and her husband, Gary, and Lilla Lumbra, and her husband, Dean; nephews, Ryan and Cameron Ward; loving brother-in-law, Michael Remus; steadfast friend, Bob Kellenberger; and best friend of over sixty years/"brother from another mother," Tony Alcaro. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Cedar Grove Ambulance and Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 81, Cedar Grove, N.J, 07009.
