Obituary Frank Copes, Jr., son of the late Frank Copes Sr. and Mildred Trader Copes, was born on December 29, 1933 in Mappsville, Virginia. He departed this life in on December 6, 2019 following a lengthy illness at Einstein Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Frank, known by his family and friends as June or Junior, was educated in the Accomack County Public School system. He became a member of First Baptist Church of Mappsville at an early age under the supervision of Rev. Michael J. Boone. Frank was employed by the John W. Taylor Canning Factory in Hallwood, Virginia and Bird’s Eye Foods in Pocomoke City, Maryland. After Bird’s Eye closed, he relocated to Trenton, New Jersey to work in construction, where he met and married his wife Helen Walls. They soon moved to Philadelphia, where he began a 40-year employment at a subsidiary for General Motors. He was a hard, dedicated worker. He was a man who lived his life to the fullest, enjoying spending time with his family. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Gladys and brothers, Harold and Lawrence. His memory is cherished by: three sisters, Mary, Althea and Bernice and one brother, Lloyd (Hazel), sister-in-law Elizabeth, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
