Lois Jean Brown

Lois J. Brown, 87 of Bemidji, MN died on Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at her home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, December 12, 2019 at the Evangelical Free Church in Bemijdi with Pastor Fred Martin officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Nary cemetery under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home in Bemidji. Lois was born September 27,1932 in Madison, MN the daughter of Mentor and Mabel Lillian (Johnson) Boraas. She attended country school thru 8th grade and graduated from Madison High School in 1950. She had one year of Teacher training in 1951 and taught school for two years in Chippewa Co. She married Charles “Chuck” Brown on November 23, 1952 and they farmed in Montevideo until December of 1957 when they moved to a farm in Bemidji, MN. She received her teaching degree from BSU. She continued teaching in 1963 in Laporte, Solway and Lincoln. She retired in 1989. She enjoyed volunteer work, helping out at Gold Pine Home, Meals on Wheels, food shelf, and at church. She believed laughter was a good medicine. Her joy and fulfillment was her own children, grandchildren and great grandchildren; each of them special in their own way to her. She loved them all. Lois is survived by her children, Richard Brown of Bemidji, Robert (Ana) Brown of Glendive, MT, Scott (Sherry) Brown of Bemidji, Susan Brown of Laporte, MN, and David (Becky) Brown of Great Falls, MT; 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, siblings, Marilyn (Gilmore) Larson of Montevideo, Jim Boraas, Bonnie (Jerry) Anderson of Bemidji, and Maisy Thompson of Belle Plaine and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Chuck, and brother Leslie Boraas. Condolences may be left at ceasefuneralhome.com.
