Jack A. Hill Sr.

Jack A. Hill, Sr., 81, of Parkersburg, WV died Tuesday December 3, 2019 at CCMC Memorial Campus. He was born in Parkersburg, WV a son of the late Howard E. and Orma (Johnson) Hill. He was a 1956 graduate of Parkersburg High School where he was in A Capella Choir and on the Journal staff. He was also a Jaycee JCI. He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and was the last surviving member of "The Guys". Jack retired from GE Plastics and was a United States Marine veteran. He enjoyed gospel singing, golfing, bowling, and gardening. He was a West Virginia University fan and a PHS Band Booster. He is survived by his wife of fifty-three years Judy (Bateman) Hill; two sons Greg Hill (Debbie) of Vienna and Scott Hill (Penny Lehew) of Weirton, WV; daughter-in-law Stacy Hill of Parkersburg; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren; two brothers James Hill and Michael Hill (Debbie); and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Jack was preceded in death by a son Jack Hill, Jr.; brother Orlan Hill; and two sister Jean Hopf and Janet Giffen. Services will be Saturday 11:00 AM at St. Paul's United Methodist Church with Reverend Brian Lee Daugherty officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery South with military honors by American Legion Post 15. Visitation will be Friday 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg.
