Deanne Turley Obituary

Deanne (Joyce Deanne) Turley (née Stearnes), aged 81, of Parkersburg, WV passed away on Monday, December 2, 2019 at Camden Clark Medical Center after a short illness. She was a generous and loving mother, grandmother, and friend who loved spending time with family, had a penchant for classic movies, and shared a love of journalism and literature with her family and friends. Deanne taught her children how to be good people through example; teaching that the most important gift we have to give one another is our time. Deanne was a 1956 graduate of New Castle High School (Indiana) where she was the Editor in Chief of the School Newspaper. In 1960 she started her family, with her marriage to husband Glen Edward Turley. As her family grew to include 7 sons, Deanne was active in the local PTA and on the School Board, while serving as home room mother and chaperone for the myriad activities her sons were involved in. Throughout the years, Deanne also worked to support her family, preparing taxes and working as an accountant at multiple organizations. In 1995 Deanne started on one of her proudest accomplishments; returning to college to complete her degree. She graduated with honors from Mid-Ohio Valley College with a Bachelors in Business Administration in 1999. She achieved this while working at Mountain State Blue Cross, Blue Shield, where she would retire in 2004. Deanne was preceded in death by her parents Paul and Margaret Stearnes; her husband, Glen; two sons Terrence and Brian; sisters Ilene Miller, Lounetta Foster, and Paula Stewart. She is survived by a large family including sons Glen and wife Pamela of Bridgeville, PA, Thomas and wife Barbara of Fredericksburg, PA, Tracey and wife Deborah of Newark, OH, Trevor of Parkersburg, WV, and Matthew and husband Tad Czyzewski of Washington, DC; surviving siblings include Josie Richey of New Castle, IN, Sherry Ritchotte of Indianapolis, IN, and Dawna Shockney, of Hilliard, OH. Grandchildren include Heather, Ben and wife Chrissa, Tim and wife Rachel, Ryan and wife Rachel, Amber, Mitch, Conway, and Loretta. Her great grandchildren are Riley, Kyleigh, Quentin, Deklyn, Priscilla, Elvis, and Jackson. Visitation will be held at Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg, WV on Friday, December 6, 2019 from 11-1, with reception to follow. Visitation will be held at Macer-Hall Funeral Home in New Castle, IN on Saturday, December 7, 2019 from 11-1. The memorial service will follow at 1:00 PM, with burial at South Mound Cemetery following. Online condolences may be sent to the family @www.leavittfuneralhome.com
