ELEANOR BIVENS CHAMBLISS April 29, 1934 - December 1, 2019 Born in Union County, N.C. Resided in Bingham Farms, Michigan Eleanor Chambliss passed away peacefully in Hospice at Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak, Michigan, December 1, 2019 at age 85. She was the devoted and beloved wife of the late Edward Chambliss for 48 years. She was loving mother to Susan Ives (Russ), Page Gorman (Michael), and the late Charles and Roger Chambliss; beloved grandmother of Jennifer Sanders (Jody), Jeffery Ives (Melissa), Kimberly Rodriguez (Paul), Kelly Gorman, Matthew Gorman (Megan), and Sean Gorman; adoring great-grandmother to Eleanor, Declan and Ivy Sanders, Isra and Miriya Ives, Maxwell, Samuel and Oscar Rodriguez, and Brian, Dylan and Colin Gorman; cherished sister of Joyce Taylor (Richard), aunt of Lori Duncan (Bill) and Rich Taylor (Jenna), and great-aunt of Trey (Savannah) and Tiffany Blood. Born April 29,1934 near Monroe, North Carolina to Earl and Annie Bivens, she graduated from Wingate (N.C.) High School in 1952 and attended Kings Business College in Charlotte, N.C. and Houston Baptist College in Houston, Texas. For more than 40 years she was a resident of Michigan, living in Birmingham and Bloomfield Hills, and resided 10 years in Mt. Pleasant, S.C. She was a longtime volunteer at Beaumont Hospital and while president was appointed to Beaumonts Board of Trustees, where she served 14 years. She was an active member of Birmingham First United Methodist Church, the first woman to serve as President of the churchs Board of Trustees. While living in South Carolina she attended Grace Episcopal Church in Charleston. She was a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, in Michigan (Chapter DD) and in S.C. (Chapter Z). For most of her life she had a passion for learning and had many interests. Whatever she did, she did with intensity, enthusiasm and excellence. She enjoyed reading, gardening, playing bridge, golf, genealogy, collecting antiques, and travel, but most of all she delighted in spending time with family and friends and being helpful to others. She was an accomplished hostess and one of her greatest gifts was her ability to meet new friends and maintain relationships across the miles and years. Family will receive friends Monday, December 16, 2019 from 2-8 PM at A.J. Desmond & Sons (Vasu, Rodgers, Connell Chapel) 32515 Woodward Ave. Royal Oak. (248) 549 0500. Memorial Service will be Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at 11 AM at Birmingham First United Methodist Church, 1589 W. Maple Rd, Birmingham. Visitation at church will begin 10 AM.
