Jessica Ford

In loving memory of Mrs. Jessica Ford (nee Hughes) of Gowganda, who passed away at Guelph General Hospital, on Friday, November 29, 2019 at the age of 99. Jessica was born the eldest of seven children (Renee, Blanche, Ivy, Eileen, Samuel and Stephen) all predeceased. She took nursing training but when her father died, she went to work as a teletypist to help to support the family. She worked for Cable and wireless sending and receiving coded messages to and from the allied forces. During the war, she met Private David Ford from Gowganda who served in the Canadian army. Jessica emigrated to Canada in 1947 and she married David (predeceased) in New Liskeard in 1948. Jessica will be sadly missed by her three children John of Gowganda, Jean of Guelph and Rosemarie Campbell of St. Albert. And by her grandchildren Jennifer Whalen (Chris) and Tristen Stevens. Her great grandchildren James and Robin Whalen are also missing "Grandma Ford". The family of the late Mrs. Jessica Ford will receive friends at the McDonald Funeral Home, Englehart, Saturday, December 7, from 10 - 10:45 am. Funeral Service will be held at Emmanuel United Church on Saturday, December 7 at 11:00 am. Rev. Elaine Lush officiating. Spring interment at the Elk Lake Cemetery.
