Elena Smith

Elena Guiso Smith, of Louisville, 96, passed away on November 28, 2019 and joined her loving husband, Franklin R. Smith, in heaven. Born in Padua, Italy near Venice, Elena met her sweetheart, Franklin, during WWII. After the war, she came to America, married and they raised two children. She attended the University of Louisville and became an interpreter for the University. In addition, she was a licensed real estate agent and worked with her husband and daughter. Always a giving woman, she volunteered for many local organizations. Cooking was her passion and was one of the many ways Elena showed her family and friends she loved them. Left to cherish her memory, daughter, Irene; son, Kenneth; his wife, Pamela; their daughters Christie and Julie. Visitation is 2 to 7pm, Friday, December 6th at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road. Memorial service is 11am Saturday, December 7th at Highlands with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made in her name to Mass of the Air.
