John Henry Hunt Jr.

John Henry Hunt Jr. was born to Leola Alexander and John Sr. on August 18, 1937 in Beckville, Texas. He was the eldest brother to eight siblings. In 1955, John joined the Navy and spent most of his military career in San Diego, California. John retired from the Navy in 1986 as Lieutenant Commander. John has three children; Margaret Pitts, JoAnna Luke and Keith Hunt. Two grandchildren; Vanessa Landis and Kelin Pitts and one great grandchild, Elijah. After retiring from the Navy, John obtained his MBA and his second career as the Vice President of Academic Instruction of El Centro Community College. In John’s spare time he was on the golf course. He was also a community activist and joined the Kiwanis in El Centro, California. In his passion for what he did he soon became the president of the Kiwanis local chapter, then the Lt. Governor of Kiwanis California, Arizona and Nevada. John will be deeply missed by all his family and the many friends he made through his life. Take heart and meet each minute with faith in God’s great love. Aware that everyday of life is controlled by God above. And never dread tomorrow or what the future brings-Just pray for the strength and courage and trust God in all things. -Poem by Helen Steiner Rice
