Steve Van Avery

Steve Van Avery, age 41, of Porter Corners, passed away Thursday, November 21, 2019. He was born April 13, 1978 in Gloversville, the son of Rita Wilson Van Avery and the late Edward Van Avery. He was a 1997 graduate of Gloversville High School and later took computer courses at BOCES. A family man and loving husband, he was an extreme outdoor enthusiast and also a very talented artist. He was a proud original member of Oath and Iron MC where his tag name was Royo. Steve is survived by his wife of 22 years, Tia Lee Eckerson Van Avery, his mother, Rita Wilson Van Avery; two sons, Damien Van Avery and Kristian Van Avery; four siblings, Sandra Van Avery, Gregory Van Avery, Dawn Nellis (Stuart) and Eric Van Avery (Pamela); as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. He was predeceased by his father, Edward Van Avery; a brother, Daniel Van Avery and a sister, Peggy Kennedy. The family will receive relatives and friends from 10am to 12pm on Friday, November 29 at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville, where a Memorial Service will follow at 12pm with Rev. Kevin Banta officiating. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Toys for Tots.
