Hilda Harris

MARS, PENNSYLVANIA – Hilda V. Harris, 104, of East Liverpool died November 21, 2019 at St. John Specialty Care Center in Mars, PA. She was born in Newell on December 23, 1914 a daughter of the late Charles H. and Mary (DeLong) Meeks. Hilda was a graduate of Wells High School. She was a lifetime member of Penn Avenue Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school. She loved working in the garden and canning. Hilda was a very caring and loving Mother and she was kind to everyone she came in contact with. Preceding Hilda in death were her husband Mel Harris; brother Charles Meeks and two sisters Ruth Gorby and Helen Wagner. Left to cherish her memory are her three daughter Kathryn Unitas of Valencia, PA, Sondra Poole of Denver, CO and Mary Lou Bernstein and her husband Paul of Fort Pierce, FL; two sons Donald Harris and his wife Patty of East Liverpool and Melvin Harris and his wife Cindy of East Liverpool; 24 grandchildren; many great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and great great great grandchildren. Friends may visit Monday afternoon and evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Rev. Norm Eckert of Beechwood Free Methodist Church will conduct a funeral service Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Crest Haven Memorial Gardens.
