Gladys M. Whitecotton, 89, of Herrin, passed away Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at her residence with her loving husband and family at her side. Gladys was born May 28, 1930 in Blairsville, IL to Arthur and Clara (Hobbs) Followell. Gladys was united in marriage with Roy Whitecotton on July 16, 1947 in Marion, IL and from this union they had three sons, Jerry, Ronald and Rex. She leaves her husband, Roy of Herrin; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Marlene Whitecotton of Herrin, Rex and Kay Whitecotton of Highland; daughter-in-law, Linda Whitecotton of St Cloud, FL; six grandchildren, Shawn, Sherry, Kim, Kalena, Tyler and Derek; nine great grandchildren and one sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Richard Roland of Bridgeville, DE; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, James and Barbara Followell of Herrin, Franklin Followell of Mulkeytown and Willard and Ann Followell of Houston, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Jerry Whitecotton (who passed away April 25, 2017); two sisters, Pauline Poelman and Ruby Dismore and two brothers, Lawrence Followell and Robert L. Followell. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at Blairsville Cemetery in Blairsville with Pastor Gene Crain officiating. Family and Friends are asked to gather at the cemetery prior to the service.
