Evelyn McCoy Henry

Leicester – Evelyn McCoy Henry, 89, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at her residence. A native of Macon County, she resided in Buncombe County for the past 18 years. She was a daughter of the late Sherman McCoy and Hester McCoy. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Lavinia Henry, and brothers: Mitchell McCoy and Cecil McCoy. Surviving are her husband of 65 years, Bobby Furman Henry; children: Kay Elaine Timbreza of Leicester, Sue Ellen Morgan and husband John of Leicester, Jeanne Lynn Welch and husband Michael of Duluth, GA, and Robert Lee Henry of Leicester; grandchildren: Julianne Jarrett, Charles Timbreza, Maile McDaniel, Mailani Garza, Bailey Thomas, Taylor Dierke, John Henry, Tiffany Bright, and Bobby Henry; great-grandchildren: Christopher Birchfield, Caleb Hernandez, Cassia Thomas, Calla Thomas, Camryn Thomas, Estelle Bright, McKenna Garza, and Aveline Garza; brothers: Homer McCoy and wife Beverly of Michigan, and Sherrill McCoy and wife Mary of South Carolina; sisters-in-law: Beulah McCoy of Shallotte, NC, and Pam McCoy of Marietta, GA; and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at 1 PM Saturday, November 23, 2019 at Newfound Baptist Church, 2605 New Leicester Hwy, Leicester, NC 28748, of which she was a member. The family will receive friends from 10 AM till Noon on Saturday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. I truly enjoyed going to Sunday school with Evelyn for many years she was so very gentle and wise in her understanding of the scriptures

We remember Evelyn and Bobby visiting us on Selby Drive, about 3 miles from their home on King Drive. She sat with me on the swing in the gazebo while Wendell and Bobby talked tools in the workshop. She had such a wise, gentle spirit.
