Shirley Pendell Randleman, North Carolina Obituary

Shirley Pendell

Shirley Jean Ward Pendell, of Randleman, gained access to her Heavenly home on Saturday November 16th 2019 at the Randolph Hospice House. She was born to Donald and Margaret Ward on August 25th 1937 in Hillsboro Ohio. She met James "Jim" Berlyn Pendell sometime in 1954 and they united in marriage on August 6th 1955. She was just two weeks from her 18th birthday so her Dad signed so they could marry. Together they brought into the world three daughters and two sons. They began their life in Peebles Ohio, moving to Hillsboro then Cincinnati. After about 10 years, they journeyed to Bloomingburg Ohio moving many times in that area. In 1987 they packed up everything, and along with their youngest son, moved to Randleman NC. There Shirley worked at Nixon & Reynolds Hosiery, Brookstone Nursing Home, and in home health care where she excelled. After retirement her doors were always open and she ministered to many who came to visit. Even in her last hours she was sharing the love of Jesus. In addition to her parents and husband, Shirley is preceded in death by: her sisters: Nina Savilla, Donna Schafer, Sharon Ward; brothers: Denver Ward and Eugene Ward and son-in-law: Wes Shoemaker. She is survived by daughters: Doris Duffy, Margaret Ingersoll and husband Tim, and Rosemary Shoemaker. Sons: Jim Pendell and wife Tonya and Daniel Pendell and wife Tina. Also, her grandchildren: Thomas Duffy, Christopher "Chipper" Duffy, Amy Duffy, Anthony Ingersoll, Tricia Burgess, William Shoemaker, Natalie Pendell, James "Jamie" Pendell, Brittany Brown and Austin Pendell; great grandchildren: Jacob Heltemes, Alyssa Heltemes, James Duffy, Madison Duffy, Jeremiah Duffy, Maleea Mills, Dakoetah Lancey, Abraham Burgess, Colton Burgess, Cameron Burgess, Kainsley Hood, Conner Brown; brother: Jerry Ward; sisters: Joyce Gregory and Bootsie Bursk and many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank all the Meadowview Apartment family who took time to look in on our Mother. She said many times she couldn`t have made it without you. Also, we`d like to thank Clara for taking care of our mother in the last months and we`d like to thank Hospice of Randolph for the second to none care she received in her final hours. To her pastor Eddie Thomas and his wife Linda much appreciation for your not only spiritual relationship, but your unselfish acts of kindness shown to our mother. If our mother touched your life, most likely you touched hers. She never saw the wrong in anyone. At the hospital we had a chance to talk to her, and she said how she prayed for her family daily; not just a general prayer but going down the list mentioning each and every one individually and asking God for different levels of His promises upon their lives. That is a heritage we should all cherish The family will receive friends Saturday, November 23, 2019 from 10:00-11:00 AM at Pugh Funeral Home, 600 S. Main Street, Randleman, NC. The funeral will follow at 11:00 AM in the Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Eddie Thomas officiating. Burial will be in New Hope Memorial Gardens, Asheboro. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Of Randolph, P.O. Box 9, Asheboro, NC 27204-0009, www.hospiceofrandolph.org.
