Marcia Claudeen Hickman was born March 23, 1938 in Kansas City, Kansas, the daughter of F.C. and Marcella Gene (Gooch) Grace. She passed away on Friday afternoon, May 6, 2016 at the Golden Living Center in Maryville, Missouri at the age of 78 years, 1 month and 13 days. Marcia grew up and attended school in Denver, Missouri through the 11th grade. Her senior year she lived in Aurora, Colorado and graduated from high school there in 1956. Following high school she attended Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville for two years. On August 24, 1958, she was united in marriage to Robert Walter Hickman in Albany, Missouri. This union was blessed with two children, Melissa and Rob. Bob and Marcia started their married life off in the Denver, Missouri area and later moved to Clarinda where they lived from 1965 to 1971. In 1971 they moved to Kimball, Nebraska and made their home there until 1978. From 1978 until now they made their home in Clarinda, Iowa where they owned and operated the F.C. Grace Furniture Store until they both retired. Marcia was a hard worker who always had her customer’s best interest at heart. She loved her God, her church and her church family. She was a happy, well-groomed and frugal person who enjoyed helping people. Her true love was her family. Marcia was preceded in death by her parents, F.C. and Marcella Grace. Survivors include her husband, Robert Hickman of Clarinda, Iowa; her children, Melissa Hickman of Platte City, Missouri, Rob Hickman and his wife Joni of Clarinda, Iowa; two granddaughters, Kassandra Romey of Omaha, Nebraska and Bethany Hickman of Boston, Massachusetts; great granddaughter, Aubrey Romey and her father, Matt Romey of Omaha, Nebraska; a sister, Dorilla Hawk and her husband Jack of Ravenwood, Missouri; a brother, F.C. Grace, Jr. and his wife Karen of Denver, Missouri; along with relatives and many, many friends. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at the Grandview Cemetery at Albany, Missouri with Pastor Mitch Grossohme officiating. Burial will be in the Grandview Cemetery at Albany, Missouri. There will be open visitation held on Friday, May 13, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Walker-Merrick Funeral Home in Clarinda. Visitation with the family present will take place on Saturday morning, May 14, 2016 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Clarinda with lunch being served from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the church basement.
