Salvatore Longo Pompton Plains, New Jersey Obituary

Salvatore Longo

Sal Longo died on Saturday, November 9, 2019 in the care of his loving family. There is only one way to describe Sal, "Beloved." He was a husband, father of three, a grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Dad was a restaurateur in New York City; an accomplished musician, playing both piano and accordion; an artist for enjoyment; an innovator and expert problem solver, from construction to business. Dad started his life working at 11 years old, helping his mom & dad, and also, to the delight of his parents, learning & playing the accordion. He developed his skills as a talented carpenter building wooden boats, which expanded into building restaurants and home projects. He was also a radio-man in the Coast Guard, serving in the South Pacific, with great love and sacrifice for family and country. He married the woman of his dreams and had three children. Sal continued to share his talents with the entire community at Cedar Crest, which included his love for God, movies and music. He was greatly loved. Sal is survived by his children, Vivian, Frank and Adele; his grandchildren, Brett, Derrick and Drew; his great-grandchildren, Lucas and Lively; his brother, Ben Longo and his wife Helen. Visiting hours will be Friday, November 15 from 1-3 and 6-8 pm at the funeral home . A funeral Mass will be held 9 am Saturday at Cedar Crest Village Chapel, Pompton Plains. Burial will be private.
