Barbara Chilton Abney

Barbara Chilton Abney, 78, of Campbellsburg, KY, passed away on November 10, 2019, at Baptist Health in Louisville, KY. She was born on March 6, 1941 to the late Paul G. and Amy Eva Register Chilton in Campbellsburg, KY. Barbara was a 1959 graduate of Campbellsburg High School. She graduated in 1961 from Ms Helen’s College of Cosmetology in Louisville, KY. Barbara was a servant of the Lord. Being a long-standing member of Providence Baptist Church, serving as church secretary for thirty years, teaching Sunday School, and organizing the church prayer chain, she served her Lord faithfully. In 1976 she began working as a teacher’s assistant at Campbellsburg Elementary School, until her retirement in 2004. Barbara’s door was always open, welcoming anyone in for a friendly ear to listen too, advise or, a hot deliciously prepared meal at her table. Her greatest joy in life was her beloved family. She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband, Vernon W. Abney of Campbellsburg, KY; her children, Chuck Abney and his wife Bonita of Madison, IN, Amy Johnson and her husband Rob of Campbellsburg, KY, and Neil Abney of Campbellsburg, KY; her sister, Linda Chilton of Lexington, IN; her brother, Roger Chilton and his wife Janice of Campbellsburg, KY; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; her very special family friend, Sherry Hurley of Pendleton, KY. Barbara is preceded in death by her parents.
