Anna Bozzi New Haven, Connecticut Obituary

Anna Bozzi

Ann “Anna” F. (Cordisco) Bozzi, age 89, of Rocky Hill, Connecticut, loving wife of the late Stephen R. Bozzi, passed away peacefully on Friday November 8th after a brief illness. Born in Binghamton, New York, she was the daughter of Frank and Mary Cordisco. Anna is survived by one brother Carlo Cordisco of Binhamton, NY and was predeceased by brother’s Alfonse Cordisco, Joseph Cordisco, Ralph Cordisco, Gino Cordisco, and sister’s Carmella Brown, Judy Aurilio, Margie Clerizo, Louise Cordisco, and daughter-in-law Lori A. Bozzi As a young Mother, she raised her family in Williston Park Long Island, where she enjoyed being part of St. Aidan’s Parish, Jones Beach, the Williston Park pool, ice skating at Ridder’s Pond, Roosevelt Field and the annual visit to see the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree. Anna is survived by her loving family, sons Stephen Bozzi and wife Lynn, Tommy Bozzi and Veronica Neary, Jim Bozzi and his husband Steve Albert, daughter Dina Wade and husband Jeff, 2 grandchildren, Emily Lowe and husband Alan, Rachel Bozzi and fiancé Justin Landry. Anna was everyone’s “Aunt Anna” and is survived by many loving nieces and nephews that kept in constant contact with her over the years including Patricia, Angelo, Roxanne, Yvonne, Frankie, Mary-Lu, David, Barbara, Laurie, Kathy, Bobby, Ronnie, Michael, Geri, Johnny, and Anthony. Many residents of Fairfield will fondly remember Bozzi’s Deli, the popular market owned and operated by Anna, her husband Steve and her family for over 25 years. When her husband retired, she and her daughter Dina ran the business and it was renamed Ann Bozzi’s Deli! Anna enjoyed and loved her family. Family Sunday dinners were a staple. She loved anything to do with decorating and Interior design, most recently designing her beloved screened in porch. She also loved Jerry Vale, going out to breakfast, open houses, Scot Haney, green bananas, a cup of coffee with a toasted bagel, NE Clam Chowder, always having beds made and house in order (“anyone can stop in Anna’s house”), the Osmond Family, the song “Danny Boy” and Christmas. Her eternal optimistic outlook was treasured by all --- everything was “fine”. Her frugalness was legendary – but her heart was generous to all she met. She was very proud of her Italian heritage, and was well known for her skills in preparing many traditional Italian meals including pasta fagiole, escarole & beans, ricotta pie, meatballs (with raisins, Aunt Margie’s recipe), homemade ravioli’s, and the traditional Bozzi holiday dessert – casadels, loaded with Karo syrup. Visiting hours will be Monday morning from 9:00am-10:30am in the Iovanne Funeral Home, Inc. 11 Wooster Place, New Haven. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Michael Church, 29 Wooster Place at 11:00am. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Foundation Fighting Blindness, www.fightingblindness.org.
