Ann Mooney Obituary

On Thursday, November 7, 2019, Ann Hallenbeck Mooney, loving wife, mother of six, and grandmother of twelve children passed away at the age of 84. Ann Hallenbeck Mooney was born on September 2, 1935, in Syracuse, NY to Lewis and Kathryn Hallenbeck. Ann and her brother Robert were raised by their parents in “The Valley” on Harding Place. She graduated from Onondaga Valley Academy and in 1955 she received her Business Degree from Central City Business Institute. Ann’s whole world was her family. She married her husband Jack in 1958 and together they raised six children. She made every holiday, birthday, or special occasion an entire family event. She was proudest of her twelve grandchildren. She never missed a chorus concert, school play, award ceremony, or sporting event. Ann worked at Syracuse University for 26 years at the Carrier Dome. Working at Syracuse was Ann’s dream job. She was a huge Syracuse Football fan, enjoying many tailgates, road trips, and bowl games with her friends and family. Ann developed lifelong friendships through her work at The Dome, one of which with Coach McPherson who she cherished. The entire Mooney Family truly “Bleed’s Orange.” Ann loved to bake and entertain her friends and family. If you were her friend or just the receptionist at her doctor’s office she would always show up with a loaf of her homemade banana bread. Ann was predeceased by her parents and brother, Robert. Ann is survived by her husband of 61 years, Jack, her six children, Kathie St.Amour, John (Michele), Sue (Rob) Bracy, Michelle (Mark) Larrabee, Michael, and Patrick (Melissa); her grandchildren Terry, Ali, and Jamie St.Amour; Jillian and Jessica Mooney; Robby and Matt Bracy; Brooke and Jenna Larrabee; Hannah Rathbun, Kate and Jack Mooney; and her two beloved dogs, Murphy and Riley. The Mooney Family would like to thank Samantha at Menorah Park for her love, kindness, and compassion for Ann. Friends and Family may call from 4-7 pm on Monday, November 11 at Edward J. Ryan and Son Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Avenue Syracuse, NY 13219. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 12 at 10am at The Church of St. Michael and St. Peter 4782 West Seneca Turnpike Syracuse, NY 13215. Burial will follow at Valley Cemetery.
