Walter G. Konieczki

Walter G. Konieczki, 81, of Millington, IL., formerly of Aurora, IL., passed away, on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at the Presence Mercy Center in Aurora, IL. He was born November 8, 1934 in Erie, PA, the son of Walter and Sofia nee Kupniewski Konieczki. Walter proudly served in the US Air Force during the Korean War. He was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church in Aurora, IL. He was also involved in the American Legion Post #84 in Aurora, IL and the VFW Post #7452 in Montgomery, IL. He worked many years as the owner of a grounds maintenance company in several locations throughout the suburbs. He is survived by his wife Rose (Whom he married on June 24, 1952 at Chanute AFB in Rantoul, IL), daughter Sharon Dillenburg of Sandwich, IL, son Andrew Konieczki of NH, grandchildren Matthew, Nicholas and Kristen Dillenburg, and great-grandchildren Anderson, Renna and Nora Dillenburg. He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother Raymond Konieczki. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 21, 2016 from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at GABEL-DUNN FUNERAL HOME, Ltd., 102 S. Johnson St., Newark, IL. Funeral service will be held on Friday, April 22, 2016 at 10:00 AM at the chapel at Millington-Newark Cemetery in Millington, IL.
