THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE ASSISTING AND CARING FOR THE FAMILY OF SALVATORE DI FIORE Born in Polizzi Generosa, Sicily, Italy WATERBURY – Salvatore G. Di Fiore age 84 of Waterbury passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by the love and comfort of his family after an extended illness on Tuesday, October 29, 2019. He was the husband of Margaret (Thieffrey) Di Fiore. Salvatore was born July 20, 1935 in Polizzi Generosa, Sicily, Italy the son of the late Salvatore and Domenica (Aversano) Di Fiore. Sal arrived in America in 1948 and immediately made a great impression with his natural charisma and positive upbeat attitude with everyone he encountered. He started working at Coudert Brothers law firm and White and Case law firm, both located in New York City. His love of cooking prompted him to open multiple pizzerias’ in New York City. He was also a long-standing member of the Sicilian Social Club. He was an avid animal lover, especially birds and horses, which he learned how to train as a young boy growing up in Sicily. His hobbies included playing multiple card games especially poker and briscola. He was a passionate fan of boxing and thoroughbred horse racing. Left to remember, cherish and honor Sal’s love and legacy are his wife of 61 years Margaret, his children Salvatore & Krista Di Fiore, Joseph Di Fiore, Teresa Ruderman, and Lisa & Paul Phillips. He also leaves his grandchildren, Dominic Di Fiore, Paris Phillips and Marissa (Chris) Frois and his future great grandson. In addition he leaves his sisters Santa Sorrentino and her family, and Maria Schossig and her family. He was pre-deceased by his sisters Giuseppa Di Fiore and Margaret Wands as well as his brother Giuseppe Di Fiore. Funeral services for Mr. Di Fiore will be held privately by his family.
