Joseph W. Tranfaglia

Joseph W. Tranfaglia, age 95, of Beverly, died Monday after a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Phyllis (Clark) (Darsney) Tranfaglia, with whom he shared 29 years of marriage, and the late Frances (Hannigan) Tranfaglia. Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late Bernadino and Filomena (Festa) Tranfaglia. He was raised in Lynn and had lived in Saugus and Lynnfield before moving to Beverly 16 years ago. Joseph served in the United States Navy during World War II. A self-employed contractor, and a machinist at General Electric, Joseph loved his work. He built many houses in the Lynn and Saugus area, and also built a camp in New Vineyard, ME. He was a hard worker and was always willing to help his family. He enjoyed square dancing, boating, bowling, puttering around the house, and working in the yard. He also loved his Siberian Huskie, Axsu. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Gail Casey (Marty); his grandchildren: Marty Casey (Linda), Robin Casey (Gary Menici), and Erin Winningham (Jimmy); and his step-children: Susan Benson (Charles), Thomas Darsney and John Darsney (Sheila). He also leaves 5 additional grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Richard and Edmond Tranfaglia, Ida Fabrizio, Helen Barresi, Jennie DelFuoco, Mary Barnett, Florence Neuzil and Elizabeth DelFuoco. Visiting hours will be on Sunday from 2-6PM in the SOLIMINE FUNERAL HOME, 426 Broadway (Rt 129), Lynn. His funeral will be held on Monday at 10AM in St. Pius V Church, 215 Maple St., Lynn. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Lynn. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Those who prefer may make donations to the Alzheimer’s Association 309 Waverley Oaks Rd., Waltham, MA 02452 or the American Diabetes Association 260 Cochituate Rd #200, Framingham, MA 01701.
