Cleveland June Perkins, Jr., 87, husband of 63 years to Ima Jean Horn Perkins, died Monday, May 20, 2013. He was born April 25, 1926, in Madison Co., KY, the son of the late Cleveland Perkins, Sr., and Lena Lowery Perkins. Mr. Perkins was a member of the Fountain Park Church of God. He was a US Army Veteran who served in WWII, and acted as Constable in the 8th district from 1957-1961. He was a lifelong farmer and he was also a Kentucky Colonel. Mr. Perkins enjoyed people and never met a stranger. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. In addition to his wife he survived by one son: Paul Perkins (Debbie), Nicholasville; two daughters: Phyllis Peavley, Berea; and Marilyn Ayers (Edward), Richmond; seven grandchildren: Albert Washington, Jr. (Melissa), Cleveland Washington, Stephanie Washington, Leslie Hamilton (Ray), Morgan Perkins, Megan Perkins, and McKenzie Perkins; nine great-grandchildren: Paul Washington, Mia Washington, Adam Peavley, Alex Sutterfield, Kaitlin Washington, Samuel Perkins, Gabriel Elliott, Paisley Hamilton, and Aria Hamilton; special friend: Alvin Foster, his canine companions: Max and Mandy; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers and sisters: Geneva Sebastian, Glenn Stewart, Mary Ashcraft, Elizabeth Isaacs, Floyd Perkins, Reed Perkins, Luther Perkins, Jr., and Bill Perkins. Funeral Services will be conducted at 11 AM Friday, May 24, 2013, at the Fountain Park Church of God, with Pastor Jim Todd and Bro. Scott Guiley officiating.Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-9 PM Thursday, at the Combs, Parsons Collins Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Jason Bingham, Alvin Foster, Billy Curtis, William Whitaker, Albert Washington, David Rhodus, and Tommy Hawkins. Honorary pallbearers will be Wilma Dozier, Carol Angel, Linda Curtis, Amy Bingham, Angela foster, Danny Angel, Scott Ayers, Roger Rhodus and Jim Rhodus.
