Stanley Scott Obituary

John Stanley Scott, 90, of Clinton, Missouri, formerly of Windsor, Mo., died Thursday evening, October 10, 2019, at the Golden Valley Memorial Hospital, Clinton. He was born August 17, 1929, near Iconium, Mo., the son of John Charles Scott and Susie Lula (Wright) Scott. After graduating from Windsor High School in 1948, John took several college courses before enlisting in the United States Navy. He served from 1951 to 1955 during the Korean Conflict. When he returned to Windsor, he continued to fine tune the carpentry skills he had begun to develop in high school. Specializing in finish carpentry, he worked with several carpenters in the Windsor area including Sterling Glass, Russell Gray and then with his brother Jack. He enjoyed fishing and traveling. He especially enjoyed making trips to visit relatives. Survivors include 2 sisters, Jean Williams (Earl), Sedalia, Mo.; Donna Leverich (Melvin), Windsor, Mo.; a cousin, Irene Church (Norman), Clinton, Mo.; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 sisters, Evelyn Dick and Iris Sturgeon; and 2 brothers, Jack Scott, and infant brother Donald Ray Scott. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 14, 2019, at the Laurel Oak Cemetery, Windsor, with Pastor Pete Hill officiating. Friends may call Sunday afternoon from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor. The family suggests contributions to the Laurel Oak Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
