Leatha Richard Zook, age 98, died on Saturday, December 12, 2015 after a period of declining health. She resided in Brookdale Place in Wooster for the final two years of her life Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 17, 2015, 2:00 PM at the Smithville Mennonite Church, 6097 Akron Rd. Smithville Burial will be at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Pleasant Home Road, Sterling, OH. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 16, 2015, 4:30 - 7:00 PM at Gresser Funeral Home, and Thursday, December 17, 2015, 1 Hr before services at the church. The family suggests that friends may make a donation in lieu of flowers to Mennonite Mission Network, P.O. Box 370 Elkhart, Indiania 46515-0370. Leatha was born September 28, 1917 in Sterling, OH, the daughter of Michael and Anna (Stuckey) Richard. She graduated from Seville High School. On Jaunary 3, 1942, she married Paul Zook. He preceded her in death in 1996. Leatha and Paul lived in Sterling, Ohio for 46 years where they farmed and raised turkeys for many of the local grocery stores. In the winters they enjoyed spending time in Florida. They showed their love to visiting family and friends with delicious meals and adventurous fishing expeditions. After selling the farm, the couple moved to OrrVilla Retirement Community in Orrville. She continued to welcome guests into their home and volunteered at Smithville Mennonite Church where she was a long time member. Gardening, baking and canning kept her busy even into her later years. Leatha was a hardworking and caring wife, sister and aunt. Her generosity and love for family provided memorable holidays and summer vacation days for numerous nieces and nephews. Additionally, Leatha and Paul had a deep interest and love for people all over the world. They invested time in service projects and visited missionares.While doing this they cultivated friendships in six continents and all fifty states. Their home was a reflection of the diversity of their interests. In addition to her husband, Leatha was preceded in death by her sister, Clela Johnson and her bothers Michael and Elam Richard. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Though the last few years have been marked with a decline in health. Leatha has faced aging graciously as the humble and Godly woman she has always been.
