Effie Taylor Obituary

Effie Gertrude Kiser Taylor, On April 4, 1925 a child of the King was born to Roy E. and Kate Kiser in Lebanon, VA and after 94 years of faithful service mom reached her Heavenly Home to be with Jesus and the sweetest family and friends anyone could have. What a beautiful reunion going on in Heaven. She was the best mom in the world. Always smiling and singing and talking about what is going on at the church. She dearly loved her family and especially her church. Mom professed her faith in Jesus at a very young age and served him faithfully ever since. She was a member of Bloomingdale Baptist Church since 1956 where she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir and served in so many other church activities. Because of her soft gentle quietness, mom never stood out in the crowd but I’m sure she will be easily recognized in Heaven. Along with her Mom, Dad, and husband Dennis, mom was preceded to Heaven by three brothers, Millard “Red” Kiser, Garland “Togy” Kiser and Horace Kiser; sisters, Francis Meade, Lillian Puckett, Mable Patton, Katherine Harmon, Irene Jenks and Eva Byerley; great-great grandson, Osco Bear Jones. Mom was survived by a sister, Carrie Kiser; daughters, Glenda Powers and husband Bill, Wilma Odham, Denise Collins and husband George; sons, Jerry and wife Anna, Steve and wife Lucy; sixteen grandchildren; thirty six great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m.to 7 p.m. on Saturday September 28, 2019 at Bloomingdale Baptist Church. A funeral service will follow with Pastor Phil Whittemore officiating. Music will be provided by daughter-In-Law, Anna Taylor and Choir. A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday September 29, 2019 at East Lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Mike Taylor, Todd Odham, TJ Odham, Billy Powers, Sean Collins and Greg Blizzard.Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Bloomingdale Baptist Church. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 12:50 p.m. The family would like to thank Carter-Trent Funeral Home for their faithful and caring service during this time and also thank Church Hill Healthcare and Rehab for their special attention they gave to Mom. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport is serving the Taylor family.
