Bruce Nielsen, 65, of Forreston, IL passed away on Thursday September 12, 2019 at home following an extended illness. He was born in Norfolk, Nebraska on November 15, 1953 and was the youngest son of Jens “Leo” Nielsen and Betty (Pedersen) Nielsen. He resided there with his family until they moved to Elizabeth, IL in 1956 and then to Hanover in 1959 on the farm. He moved to Freeport with his family after his father passed. He graduated from Freeport High School and worked at Imperial Gas Station, did landscaping and started driving truck. He worked for Barr Trucking and Asche Transfer before becoming an owner/operator of Nielsen Trucking LLC and loved volunteering for the Friends Forever Humane Society and being a part of their Board of Directors. He had a great love for tractor pulling and being a part of the Midwest Pullers and racing three wheelers and motorcycles. He married Jami Branthaver August 1st of 2006. He is survived by his loving wife, Jami, his daughter Kyndra, son Brady, grandchildren Aleah, Kiley (Sean) Wight and great granddaughter Luna. Also survived by 2 brothers, Leslie (Carol), Arlan (Charlene), sister Mary (Brian) and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, and his sister Ellen Reitz. He was greatly loved by friends and family and dearly missed. Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 17th from 4 – 7 PM at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home in Forreston. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday also at Burke-Tubbs, Forreston. Burial will be in White Oak Cemetery, Forreston.
