Maria Fatima Resendes, 78, of Monroe St., Pawtucket, passed away peacefully at home Thursday evening, September 12, 2019. She was the wife of the late Fernando Antonio Resendes. Born Sept. 21, 1940, in Sao Miguel, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Carlos V. Machado and Isaura Maria Teixeira. Fatima loved to travel, looking forward to spending the holidays with family and friends and cooking for everyone. She was beloved by her family and her neighbors. She was the sister of Maria daConceicao Lima of Pawtucket, Maria Lurdes Moreira of Pawtucket, Maria Filomena Braga of Rumford, the late Dora Andrade, and the late Maria Natividade Cabral. She also leaves many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and great nephews. Her funeral will begin Monday, Sept. 16, at 9am from the Rebello Funeral Home and Crematory, 901 Broadway, East Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Francis Xavier Church, No. Carpenter St., East Providence. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday, Sept. 15, from 4pm until 7pm.
