Reuben H. Short, age 77, of Laurel, Delaware passed away on December 11, 2015 at Lofland Park Center. Reuben was born on December 8, 1938 in Laurel. He was the son of Herman and Pearl Short. Reuben was a building contractor and carpenter for over 40 years and a past member of the Laurel Fire Department. He was a loving father, grandfather and an avid bird watcher. Mr. Short is survived by his companion and best friend Penny Frye of Seaford, his sons Michael Short, Sr. and wife Lori, Douglas Short and wife Donna, Shane Short. Daughter Francine Mann and husband Ernie. Grandchildren Michael Short, Jr., Michelle Lecates, Douglas Short II, EJ Mann, Nicole Stokes, Erica Forse and Taylor Tapia, as well as six great grand-children. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, December 17, 2015 at the Laurel Fire Department. Doors will open at 6 p.m., and a Memorial service will begin at 7 p.m. with light refreshments following. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Laurel Fire Department or the American Cancer Society in Memory of Reuben Short.
