Berniece E. Colony

Berniece Elise Colony, 84, of Burlington, passed away December 10, 2015, at Burlington Health & Rehab Center in Burlington. Berniece was born April 24, 1931, in Mansfield, Mich., to the late Charles and Laura Rose (nee Lane) Colony. She spent her early life and received her education in Mansfield, graduating from Crystal Falls High School. Following graduation, Berniece worked at the lron County Register of Deeds in Crystal Falls, Mich. She then moved to Waukegan, lll., where she spent five years working at the Great Lakes Naval Base, before taking on the position as a corporate secretary to the vice president of National Acceptance Corporation, in Chicago, lll., for 37 years. Berniece was a member of the Methodist Church in Waukegan, lll. She enjoyed bowling and baseball. Berniece loved animals, especially dogs, and was a caregiver to many people in Waukegan, lll. She was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings Gertrude Colony, Dorothy Colony-Thompson, Corrine Frisque, LeRoy Colony, Charles Colony, Harry Colony, Beatrice Covert-Hauke and an infant sibling. She is survived by sister-in-law Arlene Colony, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Burlington Health & Rehab Center for the care they have given Berniece over the years.
