Morene J. (Prater) Suiter-Smith Obituary

Morene Jackaleen Smith,86, went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 11, 2015, with her loving family by her side. Morene was born January 13, 1929, in Pierce, Oklahoma. She was the youngest of twelve children born to Jay and Minnie Bell (Ashley) Prater. Morene was raised in the Pierce, Oklahoma area graduating from Pierce High School with the Class of 1949. She met Bob Suiter and they married in August of 1953, and to this union there are three children Pam, Mark and Rob. The couple later moved to Amarillo, Texas were the family lived for 15 years until they divorced in 1968. Morene and family returned to Oklahoma to be closer to family. Morene married James Paul Smith in 1974, and they were married until Paul passed away in 1998. Morene worked hard all her life to support the family. She worked at Ball Brothers Glass and then later retiring from Hissom Memorial Center in Sand Springs. Morene was known for her no nonsense approach to life and was dedicated to her family. Her pies were delicious, her biscuits and hot rolls were out of this world. Morene professed Jesus Christ as her Savior at a very young age and continued to live her life as Jesus would have her to. Morene loved to quilt and sew, and loved to put in a garden. She also loved to fish and spend time at the lake property on Eufaula Lake. Morene was an avid reader always having several books to read, she especially loved true crime. Morene is survived by her children; Pamela Garrett of Birmingham, Alabama, Mark Suiter of Pawnee, Oklahoma, Robert Suiter and his wife Robyn of Colorado Springs, Colorado, grandchildren Crystal Cruz and husband Omar of Fultondale, Alabama, Candice Pannell and husband DeLynn of Morris, Alabama, Kate Suiter and Lauren Suiter of Colorado Springs, Colorado, great grandchildren Andrea Cruz of Fultondale, Alabama, Jackson Pannell and Ava Pannell of Morris, Alabama, many nephews, cousins and a host of friends. Morene was preceded in death by her parents, husband James Paul Smith, 11 brothers and sisters, niece Charlene Lemley, son in law Roger Garrett and a great grandson Arley Cruz.
