Myrtle Lucille (Thomas) Vaughn 84, a resident of Cleveland, Tennessee, passed away at Brookdale Assisted Living Center on November 30, 2015. In her younger years, Lucille enjoyed horseback riding, bowling and many trips to Florida with her friends. Lucille was a cat lover and over the course of her life, she took much joy in in her cats, especially Sandy and most recently Ellie. She dearly loved her husband of 37 years, Darrell, and was a kind and wonderful stepmother to his children. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Darrell, parents Bernard F. and Myrtle M. (Lee) Thomas, her brothers E. Bedford Thomas and William Lester Lee (Billy) and grandson Keith Lee Smette. Lucille leaves behind to cherish her memory, sisters Gertha Dean Tilson and Bobbie Mae Wilson, nephews Michael Thomas (Janet) and Steve Thomas, nieces Joyce Sisson, Janice Slack (Randy) and Lori Blair, step-children Barbara Houston (Tim), Charlotte Smette (Doug), Elizabeth Montoya and James Vaughn (Rebecca), her grandchildren Nicole Alaniz, Sarah Jaye Bell, Dana Peacock, Robert Smette, Meagan Gauvin, Aaron James, Amanda Montoya, Michael Montoya and Katie Montoya, and ten great grandchildren. A celebration of life service is planned for 1:00 pm on Thursday December 3rd, 2015 at Companion Funeral Home, located at 2419 Georgetown Road NW, with Pastor Tom Wickes officiating. A visitation period will be held prior to the service beginning at 11 am. Internment service will be held at Fort Hill Cemetery on Ocoee Street in Cleveland, TN following the funeral service.
