1932-2019 James H. Beagel, 86, of North Chicago, IL passed away Sunday, August 18, 2019 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. James was born on Saturday, December 24, 1932, Christmas Eve, in Wilsey, KS to Gilbert and Margaret (Rogers) Beagel. James married his beloved wife, Teruko (Seto) Beagel on June 13, 1957 in Yokosuka, Japan. He retired as a Chief Petty Officer Hospital Corps after 20 distinguished years in the United States Navy; recipient of the Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Action Medal among others. He embodied the Navy’s Motto: Honor, Courage, Commitment. His infinite love of his family was more than he could express in words but showed in his actions and good deeds to them. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Teruko; children, Deborah A. Sorgi, Carolyn (Mike) Para and Michael (Stacey) Beagel; grandchildren, Kevin Jr. And Mariko Sorgi, Jared and Haley Beagel, Alexus Para; great-grandchild, Kevin James Sorgi; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. A private burial with military honors will take place at a later date.
