Albert George Buhring Stuart, Florida Obituary

Albert George Buhring

Albert G. Buhring, 94, of Stuart, FL passed away Sunday, August 18, 2019 in the care of Treasure Coast Hospice. He was born and raised in Chicago, IL to Arthur and Estella Buhring. He was raised in Chicago and completed his schooling there. Albert was drafted to the United States Navy in 1942. He has shared that he was given a rifle and sent to Japan and didn't even know how to shoot! Part of what would be known as "the greatest generation", a WWII Veteran, Albert proved as did many of his comrades did, that their courage and bravery were instrumental in changing the world for the better. After the war and his enlistment in the Navy was completed, Albert returned to Chicago, IL in 1946 and began his career and what would become his life long passion, the silk flower business. He was the owner and operator of Albert G. Buhring, INC in Chicago, IL for many years. Albert moved to Florida for his "retirement years", however he did not slow down or give up his love and passion for his work. He opened his first shop with a partner in downtown Stuart, Barron & Buhring. He eventually moved on opening his very own shop in Downtown Stuart, Albert G's. He was known as a "master" at the art of creating silk flower arrangements. He was a pillar in the merchant community of downtown Stuart and a philanthropist, often donating his pieces for charity functions. Some may remember his store as the one will all the pennies in the doorway. Others may remember him for his artful work and charming personality. Most recently Albert was a resident at the Stuart Lodge. He leaves behind: sister Arlene Kamptner of Titusville, FL; dear friend and co worker - Keith Begley of Stuart, FL; longtime friend and Stuart merchant, Reta Andrus of Palm City, FL; his god son, John Nemeth and his wife Beth of California, and dear friend Adele Noonan . As well as the numerous friends and acquaintances he has met through out his life. He will be missed. In lieu of flowers, Keith and Reta have asked those who wish to make a memorial contribution, mass cards or donations can be sent to Reta Andrus, 1688 SW Springfield Ct., Palm City, FL 34990. A visitation will be held on Sunday, Aug 25, 2019 from 2-4 pm at All County Funeral Home, 1010 NW Federal Hwy, Stuart, FL 34994. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, Aug. 26, 2019 at 10:00 am at St. Josephs Catholic Church, 1200 East 10th St., Stuart, FL 34994.
