Leif A. Jernstad passed away at home in North Aurora on August 9, 2019. He was born in Windsor, Ontario, Canada to James Robert and Lorraine Susanne (nee Peterson) Jernstad on March 14, 1948.
Leif was a veteran who was a patriot and proud of his country. He filled many roles, such as father, brother, grandfather, and many others. He was an avid Cubs fan, always ebbing and flowing with the team, even having his own tradition of washing dishes to start a Cubs rally. Leif was not a shy person, being able to makes friends wherever he went and known for his pranks.
Leif leaves behind his 5 sons; Leif (Karen) Jernstad, Eric (Heather) Jernstad, Christopher Jernstad, Adam Jernstad, and Matthew Jernstad, two stepdaughters; Angela and Lisa, four grandchildren; Derrick, Amanda, Logan, and Maximus. He also leaves behind his siblings Warren (Redetha) Jernstad, Kathy (Bill) Douglas, Jim (Pam) Jernstad, Steve (Barb) Jernstad, Mark (Kim) Jernstad, Allen Jernstad, and Glen (Tina) Jernstad. In addition, he leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews.
Leif is preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be held on Friday, October 25th at 2:30pm at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 20953 W Hoff Rd, Elwood, IL 60421. (815) 423-9958
