Douglas Hoard

Douglas Hoard, beloved father, grandfather, and great grandfather, passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2019 at the age of 93 years. Doug will be dearly missed by his children Kevin (Ellen) Hoard, Daryl (Sarita) Hoard, and Lori Hoard; grandchildren Scott (Sarah), Shannon (Matt), Tina (Allen), Crystal, Cindy (Rob), Chad, Chandra, Barry (Lori), and Tammy (Jeff); 19 great-grandchildren, and many other extended family. He was predeceased by his wife Joyce in 2009, his son Dwayne and his daughter Linda. Douglas was born in Kindersley SK and grew up on the farm in Fairmount SK, where he married his sweetheart, Lorraine Louise "Joyce" and raised their family, who he loved and valued above all else. In 1973 they moved to Calgary, AB where he has resided since. He enjoyed a career as a heavy duty mechanic for John Deere for over 40 years. He was an avid handyman, there wasn't a thing he wouldn't attempt to fix. In his retirement years he took great pride in property management with his wife. In his down time, he enjoyed playing cards, crib, and crossword puzzles and above all his children and grandchildren. A Funeral Service will be held for Douglas at Pierson's Funeral Service (4121 17 Ave SE, Calgary) on Friday, August 23, 2019 at 2:00 pm with interment to follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens.
