James Eugene Buhrman Obituary

James E. Buhrman, 72, of Hagerstown, MD went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, August 18, 2019 following a brief illness. Born January 13, 1947, he was the son of the late Keller E. and Edith May (Bond) Buhrman. James graduated from South Hagerstown High School with the class of 1965. He was employed by Mack Truck for 39 years, retiring in 2008. He was a member of the Cumberland Valley Racing Pigeon Club for many years. He was an avid flyer and loved talking for hours about his birds with his friends and family. He was a member of Morris Frock American Legion Post 42 and a member of the Vietnam Last Man Club. He was a sergeant in the United States Army, serving from 1966 to 1968. He also served as a volunteer at Reach Cold Weather Shelter. He regularly attended Hagerstown Church of the Nazarene. He is survived by his wife, Martha R. Buhrman; daughter, Kelli S. Tencer and husband, Michael; son, Jason A. Buhrman and wife, Rachel; sister, Irma M. Leedy and husband, Kenneth; brother, Marvin E. Buhrman and wife, Myrtle; and four grandchildren, James A. Muth, Allison E. Tencer, Ryan J. Buhrman, and Travis L. Buhrman. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by six sisters, Ethel Baker, Ruth Kuhn, Janice Wilkins, Nancy Hull, Janet Buhrman, and Mildred Buhrman. The funeral service will be held 11am Thursday, August 22, 2019, at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD. The Rev. Steven R. Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park in Hagerstown, MD. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, August 21, 2019, from 7 to 9pm.
