Michael Lee Crossland, 55, of Atchison, KS passed away Saturday, September 24, 2016 at the Atchison, Hospital. Michael will have a naval burial at sea off the Port of San Diego, CA. A memorial service will be held at a later date. The Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. Michael was born on August 26, 1961, in Atchison, KS the son of Joseph and Marcelene (Noll) Crossland. He graduated from Maur Hill Prep in 1979 and immediately joined the United States Navy. He served in the Western Pacific Theatre, visiting many ports including Singapore, Philippines, Japan, and Hawaii. Michael attained the rank of Petty Officer First Class and received an Honorable Discharge in 1992. After military service, Michael worked for twenty years in power plant operation and maintenance, including seven years at Bradken in Atchison. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and an avid gun collector. Michael enjoyed reading, especially military history and collecting and listening to the music of his generation. He also enjoyed building model military equipment. Michael held his family and his service to the Navy with great love and devotion. Michael is survived by his siblings; Steven and Robin Crossland, Leawood, KS, Lynn and Jesse Graddick, Daphne, AL, Jay Crossland, Tonganoxie, KS, Charles and Ronda Crossland, Atchison, KS Joel Crossland, New Iberia, LA, Samantha Crossland Dudley, Grandury, TX, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
