BENTON, ME—Ruby A. Harding, of Benton, ME passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 22, 2015, at Inland Hospital in Waterville, ME. She was born in Fairfield, ME on July 14, 1924, the daughter of the late Otis and Gelie (Peavey) Gurney. Ruby graduated from Lawrence High School in Fairfield, ME. On August 8, 1946, she married Robert W. Harding. The couple enjoyed 55 years together until his passing on June 5, 2002. Ruby and Robert owned and operated Riverdale Dairy Farm prior to retirement. She was also a member of the Rebekahs. She loved to knit and made hats and mittens for her family and friends. She also enjoyed selling vegetables that her sons would grow and spending time at camp on Oak Pond in Skowhegan, ME. Ruby also enjoyed baking, especially her fudge and molasses cookies. Ruby will be sadly missed by her sons, Robert G. Harding and his fiancé, Charlene Jeranka, and Daniel A. Harding Sr. and his wife, Nance; her brother, Omer Gurney; her sisters, Christine Beaulieu, Emaline Bartley, and Earline McGoff; her grandchildren, Jason Harding and his wife, April, Jody Graf and her husband, David, Daniel Harding and his companion, Stephanie, Jaime Lang, and Neal Lang and his wife, Kelli; 10 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 25 at Falls Cemetery in Benton, ME with Pastor Steve Donahue officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ruby’s memory may be made to American Cancer Society Maine, One Bowdoin Mill Island, Suite 300, Topsham, ME 04086
