Walter H. Reynholds

<p>Walter Herbert Reynholds, 88, of Poughkeepsie, NY died peacefully on Wednesday,</p><p> August 14, 2019.</p><p><br></p><p>Walter was born on September 14, 1930 to the late Martin and Judith Reynholds. He was predeceased by his loving and devoted wife Janice Wilson Reynholds in 2012 after 56 years of marriage.</p><p><br></p><p>Walter grew up in West Hartford, CT and graduated from the University of Connecticut with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering in June 1956. Walter served in the Air National Guard from 1951 to 1956. He and his wife relocated to Endicott, NY where he worked for IBM and established permanent residence in Poughkeepsie in 1964 while working for IBM in Fishkill. He retired from IBM in 1992.</p><p><br></p><p>He had several interests and hobbies which included annual deep-sea fishing trips with family and friends. He loved the ocean and many family vacations were spent in Maine. He also enjoyed woodworking, caning chairs, stain glass design and building musical instruments, including a harp. He was an avid collector of unusual items which include Swedish Dala horses and eggbeaters. He also spent many hours working on family tree ancestry.</p><p><br></p><p>He enjoyed a good conversation, was an avid reader of newspapers and books, and always had a good joke to tell. Walter was very active at St. John's Lutheran Church being Financial Secretary and President of the Church Council for several years. He also volunteered his time at Lutheran Care Center during worship services and assisted them in their spiritual care program.</p><p><br></p><p>Walter is survived by his daughter Gayle O'Rourke and her husband Brian of Poughkeepsie, NY and daughter Lori Arsenault and her husband Joseph of East Granby, CT, and his five Grandchildren, Hilary Kaye and husband Seth, Trevor and Travis O’Rourke, Caitlyn Arsenault and fiancé Bryant Ferguson, and Tyler Arsenault. He is also survived by his brother Robert M. Reynholds of West Hartford, CT, and a brother-in-law Irving Wilson and his wife Elaine of Wethersfield, CT. In addition, many nieces and nephews and a close friendship with Patricia Moore of Fairfield, CT.</p><p><br></p><p>A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at St. John's Lutheran Church, 55 Wilbur Blvd., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. Visitation will be held from 10am to11am in the chapel, and a service will be held at 11 am.</p><p><br></p><p>Memorial donations may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, 55 Wilbur Blvd., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603 or Dutchess County SPCA, 636 Violet Ave., Hyde Park, NY 12538.</p><p><br></p><p>Arrangements are under the direction for the Wm.
