Thomas N. Dekker

Thomas N. Dekker, age 66, of Rhinelander, WI, passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2019, at his home under the care of his family and Ministry Home Care Hospice. Tom was born in Amarillo, TX, on October 28, 1952, the son of James and Betty (Taylor) Dekker. Tom moved to Rhinelander as a young child and was a graduate of Rhinelander High School. After graduation, he entered the military serving in the United States Army. Tom was later married to Nancy Cornell; she survives. Tom was an alderman for the City of Rhinelander for 10 years and worked as a store manager for Pamida in Eagle River. In his younger years, he was a talented swimmer and won several awards participating on the high school swim team. He was passionate about playing golf, enjoyed camping, canoeing, sailing on Boom Lake, fishing, and was an avid Packers fan. Survivors include his Wife, Nancy Dekker, of Rhinelander; his Son, Jesse Dekker, of Tomahawk, WI; 2 Daughters, Rebecca Dekker, of Virginia, MN, and Elizabeth Dekker, of Minneapolis, MN; 1 Brother, Jim Dekker, of Rhinelander; 2 Sisters, Janet (Bob) Dahl, of Harshaw, WI, and Sandy (Scott) Kneser, of Wausau, WI. He is further survived by his Granddaughter, Aubree. Tom was preceded in death by his Father, James. In accordance with Tom’s wishes, a celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the family.
