Mr. Raymond M. Washington, age 74, of Tallapoosa, GA, passed away August 15, 2019. He was born July 2, 1945 in Villa Rica, GA to the late Verdell Luther and Gurture Johnson Washington. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Craig Washington and brothers, Dusty Washington, Tony Washington, Gary Washington, and Grady Washington. Ray loved to woodwork. He was an avid guitar picker and songwriter. He always loved to sing sad, slow songs until his Susie told him to pick up the tempo. He is survived by his wife, Susie Mae Pope Washington, of Tallapoosa; daughter, Kim Washington Smith, of Calhoun, GA; and sister, Dorothia Washington, of Lagrange, GA. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 17, 2019 at 2:00PM at the Tallapoosa Church of God with Rev. Clarence Bright and Rev. Wayne Reddish officiating. Gentlemen serving as pallbearers will be Dean Redden, Jimmy Pope, Robbie Washington, Mark Knoles, and Cliff Hendrix. Interment will follow in Hollywood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Church of God Friday, August 16th beginning at 2:00PM.
