Fred Jacobs Obituary

Jessie Fred Jacobs, born May 27, 1931 had graced our presence for 88 years. Fred was a loving husband to Lourine for 55 years until her death in 2006 and Helen for 9 years until her death in 2017. He was born in Corsicana, Texas and was a very religious man and eventually returned to Corsicana in his latter years. He was welcomed home to Heaven to be with his Lord and Savior on August 15, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. Fred touched the lives of so many people during the course of his life and was considered a Patriarch, Teacher, Coach, Leader of Men, Confidant, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather. All that met him and took the time to know him thought of him as the greatest person they had ever met. He was the kind of man that no one person was a stranger and all deserved the respect of a handshake and introduction. Fred was the eldest of 10 children of Arvel and Myrtle Jacobs. He was highly regarded in his field of work in water utilities for the Cities of Corsicana, Richardson, Cleburne and Mesquite TX for over 35 years. During his years of public service his accomplishments were measured in his eyes as his greatest accomplishments other than being the religious and family man that all knew him to be. He was a Veteran of the National Guard as a Platoon Sergeant and First Lieutenant which included active duty in Fort Polk, LA during the Berlin Wall crisis. Fred believed that as long as his memory survives him, adulations are unnecessary as long as love survives. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers and sisters; Jerry Jacobs, Jake Jacobs, Marie Chapman, and Melba Helms who were called home before him. Fred is survived by his other brothers and sisters; Bobby Jacobs, Ray Jacobs, David Jacobs, Eleanor Greer, and Sandra Hughes to carry on his legacy as they all are as loving and caring as he was. He is also survived by his children; Wesley Jacobs and wife Della, Freeda Miers and husband Ed, and Wayde Jacobs and wife Penny. Fred leaves behind to cherish his memories 9 grandchildren who he loved and adored; Corbett Flores, Angela Henry, Matt Archer, Heath Jacobs, Ashley Newton, Carlyn Matia, Tony Nobra, Andrew Miers and Claire Jacobs. He is also survived by 10 great grandchildren and 1 great great-grandchild that will be part of his legacy this year; Nick Flores, Cassandra Flores, Noah Brooks, Landry Newton, Aydan Miers, Jackson Brooks, James Matia, Jemma Miers, Aidan Nobra, Damian Nobra, Jonah Parks Miers and Baby Matia October 2019. Visitation to honor his life will be on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 from 6-8pm at Corley Funeral Home. Services to remember his life and legacy will be on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at 2pm at Corley Funeral Home with Pastor Gene Ratcliff officiating. Burial will follow at Hamilton Beeman Cemetery in Retreat along side his loving wife Lourine and his parents, Arvel and Myrtle Jacobs. Serving as pallbearers will be Matt Archer, Heath Jacobs, Chris Henry, Lance Hughes, Corbett Flores, Estaban Pacheco, Randall Jacobs and Michael Jacobs. Memorials may be made to Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church at 1437 S. 45th Street, Corsicana, Texas 75151.
